Composer / Musician Spotlight
Bruce Watson: Bruce's career has been filled with many performances on electric guitar, lap steel, bottleneck slide, mandolin and pedal guitar. Bruce also re-defines fashion at Groove Addicts by single handedly bringing back double knit polyester with contrast stitching and white patent leather shoes. His live performance and recording session credits include: Alanis Morrisette, Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Alice Cooper, Stewart Copeland (Police), Christina Aguilera, Elton John, Dave Koz, Scott Thomas Band, Jonatha Brooks, REO Speedwagon, Sheila E, Lionel Richie, Motley Crue, Tina Turner, Cher and Patty Smyth.

Harry Cody : Rolling Stone magazine called Harry Cody "innovative" and "articulate." Alternative Press termed his former lineup, Shotgun Messiah, "maybe the perfect '90s band." And Guitar magazine praised his "power, precision and leads." While Shotgun Messiah toured the United States supporting three critically acclaimed album releases, enjoying airplay with the hit "Heartbreak Boulevard," Cody was listening to Berthold Brecht and Kurt Weil, and was raised on everything from Swedish pop bands to violent TV shows to Fassbinder art movies. Originally hailing from Sweden, Harry has made the US his home after being signed to an American label over a decade ago. Now Cody is one of the key staff composers of LA based Groove Addicts.

Robert Wear : Not long after Robert learned to walk, he mastered the four-track and began impressing all the other kids on the block with his dance remixes. Soon, his work was whipping people into a dance frenzy in clubs all over Southern California. In 1995, Groove Addicts Creative Director Dain Blair hired Robert as a runner for Who Did That Music. Robert quickly worked his way up to composing music and creating sound effects for major clients like Gatorade, Kellogg's, and Cadillac. At the same time, he continued to dominate the club scene. Most recently, he produced and mixed a CD by the band Spanking Machine that is currently being distributed by the gothic / industrial dance powerhouse Metropolis Records. So along with producing unforgettable tracks for your project, Robert might be able to get you on the guest list of your favorite night spot (if you ask him nicely).

Phil X : Phil X spent a few years kicking around the club scene in Toronto, Canada. It wasn't long before he started developing a reputation as a guitarist with some serious power behind his sound. One day, after a twist of fate, he was asked to play for Tommy Lee. The next day he was in the studio and began recording guitars for MCA's Methods of Mayhem (Dec.'99). As his name started to float around the circuit, Phil X was asked to perform on more and more recordings, including those by Rob Zombie, Alice Cooper and Andrew W.K.. Phil is one of the key staff composers of L.A. based Groove Addicts. Working with Phil is exhilarating and dangerous all at the same time says Groove Creative Director Dain Blair....... if you're in the wrong place when he turns his head you can get blinded by the spiked hair.

Lance Morrison : Lance was born in Corpus Christi, which is latin for "body of Christ". Let the symbolic significance of that sink in for a minute before the reader continues...
...okay. The Morrison household was a notably non-musical one. Savor the irony like a butterscotch candy cradled on the tongue.

Forward ahead to Christmas 1997, where flush with his success as a studio bassist for the likes of Alanis Morissette, Rod Stewart, and Simple Minds, Lance travels from LA to Austin to visit relatives for the holidays. He pilgrimages to his hometown to measure the distance he has travelled since the cradle, reckoning both in miles and in artistry. But the city of his birth has a rude homecoming in store: for there, overlooking the T- and L-heads, on the spot where the child Lance used to fish in the waters of the Corpus Christi bay, now stands... a statue of Selena!

Additional credits since that emotional trip home
include Don Henley, Rick Springfield, New Radicals and many others.

Matt Laug : Many things have been written about Matt Laug. "Wonderfully percussive - a dazzling array of style, grace, and finesse" - NY Times,"A man small in stature but a GIANT behind the drums." - Irving Azoff. Now one or both of those statements may be false but this is true: you'd be hard pressed to find a harder rocking drummer that Matt Laug. Right now he's busy playing with Slash as the opening act for AC/DC on the North American Tour. He's also played with artists like Alanis Morrissette, New Radicals, King L, and Leah Andrionni. Trivia: for most of 1994 and 1995 Matt was the deputy Mayor of Manhattan Beach, California.

Byron Brizuela : This multi-faceted producer, composer, remixer specializes in the phenomenon known as "Street Music". Whether it be Hip Hop, Latin Soul, or Electronica, his signature sound can be heard throughout the world as he creates musical hybrids crafted for international mass appeal. Byron heads up the Latin Division of L.A. based Groove Addicts.

Byron of Salvadorian descent, began his career in entertainment at the early age of twelve, spinning records. He received his first break when he produced and co-wrote a song for Sony / Globo Records. Since then he has produced full length albums in both Spanish and English and remixed for such labels as Sony Discos, BMG, Warner, Universal, Hollywood Records, Polygram, EMI, Mercury and countless others. His remix of Laura Pausini's "Entre Tú Y Mil Mares" catapulted him into the top of the remixing world. It showcased his innovative production style, and his ability to arrange with pop sensibilities. Byron has scored numerous commercials for Groove Addicts including Coke, Nike, Honda and Cuervo Tequilla.

Paul Mirkovich : Being one of twelve children, Paul realized early on that the only way to get a room alone in the house was to practice, practice, practice. Later on, while ogling his older sister's friends that would come by the house, he realized that it was also a cool way to get chicks to notice him. So with these goals firmly in mind he set out on a career touring with various artists from R&B to Heavy Metal.Last year he was Musical Director for Janet Jackson for her world tour, and currently is MD/keyboardist/vocalist for Cher on her farewell tour. He is also an accomplished composer, orchetrator ,and producer. He has worked with artists from very diverse styles of music like,Peter Gabriel,Jeffrey Osbourne, and Whitesnake, and prides himself on his versatility and unmatched humility.

Howard Pfeifer : Somewhere between psychcotic genius and creative lunacy (although always very bubbly) exists composer Howard Pfeifer. Although anybody could go off the deep end after having composed hundreds of national commercials, films and television scores, the final straw really must be atrributed to having performed as the voice of Alvin (of the Chipmunks) for many years. But don't be fooled. Behind the far off look and hairless grin, there lies a musician of biblical proportions, and not a bad bowler either.

Tim Wynn : Tim Wynn is probably the most famous person you've never heard of. But actually you probably have heard him, unless you¹ve been hiding under a rock somewhere. Tim¹s talent infuses indy films such as Macon County Jail (Ally Sheedy, David Carradine) and Walking After Midnight. The couch potatoes among us may have unwittingly given Tim¹s music a listen on Showtime (Terminal Virus, Suspect Device) or on The History Channel (Moments of Truth, D-Day, Lindbergh Flies Again.) Tim¹s practically ubiquitous on network TV, providing music for such series as John McEnroe¹s The Chair, Thieves, The Strip and Brimstone. When not avoiding the paparazzi, Tim likes to peel petals off of daisies.

Al Capps : Two-time Grammy nominee Al Capps made his debut in Hollywood as part of the Capitol recording group "The Eligibles'. During his meteoric rise in tinseltown, his music grabbed the attention of Cher, for whom he created such diva-making singles as "Gypsies, Tramps and Thieves," "Dark Lady," "The Way of Love," "All I Ever Need Is You," and the million seller "Half Breed." Along with composing and arranging gold records for The Manhattan Transfer, Gary Puckett and the Union Gap and Helen Reddy, Al worked for Burt Reynolds as composer "Smokey and the Bandit," "Cannonball Run I and II," and "Sharkey's Machine."

Al entered the commercial realm in the 1980's and has never looked back, working first for HLC Killer Music, where he created such powerhouse campaigns as Levi's 501 Blues, Wheaties, Gatorade, Lean Cuisine, Budweiser and Oldsmobile. Al currently applies his prodigious talents at Groove Addicts on top campaigns for Swatch, Mercedes, Dole, Cadillac, Pepsi, MCI, Hilton Hotels, Budweiser, & GTE.
